Razor e100 Electric Scooter Review
If you’re looking for an entry level electric scooter then the Razor e100 is an ideal choice, the e100 would make a great first electric scooter. It is a beginners scooter that is for ages 8+, but I have read a few reviews where a few children as young as 5 have been using them.
This scooter can go up to speeds of 10MPH. What makes this a beginners scooter is that you have to manually kick off (usually one kick will do the trick) to get the scooter to 3mph, then the motor takes over.
The e100 is designed for weights up to 120 pounds, it has a wide standing surface so both feet can be together side-by-side making this scooter very safe. It also can be folded away and put in the car and can be taken away for great days out.
Assembly
If you’re like me you dread getting kits that come with dozens of pieces but thankfully the e100 comes in 3 parts it is very easy to assemble, all you have to do is screw in the handlebars, fasten one screw on the inside and one on the outside and it’s finished. It only takes about 5 minutes.
Battery Life
The scooter does ship with a partially charged long life rechargeable battery but for the first charge the battery will need to be charged for 18 hours. The scooter will operate for about 1 hour before it will need a recharged but this will only take about 8 hours. The motor can be turned off and the scooter can still be used.
Safety Issues
One of the most important issues that I was concerned about was to do with the safety of the scooter, would travelling at speeds of up to 10mph be dangerous.
Firstly the scooter has to be pushed manually to 3mph before the motor kicks in, this prevents anyone falling off from the immediate acceleration when the motor kicks starts. It travels at a speed that provides great fun but it isn’t too fast that it’s dangerous. I would recommend a safety helmet is worn at all times when on the scooter.
Negatives
In my research most of the customer feedback was very positive, however I did come across a few negatives that a few people were saying.
The biggest negative that I came across was that the scooter was not delivered in a concealed box; it comes in its original box which has a picture on the side. If you want to keep the scooter a secret then you will need to make sure the children aren’t around when it’s delivered.
If you are buying it as a present then you will need to wait 18 hours to charge the battery before it can be used for the first time.
The battery will have to be charged each night after a full days worth of play, and a few people reported that it goes a bit slower up hills when it is getting towards the end of its charge.
In my opinion the Razor e100 electric scooter is the best electric starter scooter, other models are more powerful but I feel it’s best to start slower and not compromise on safety.
